Introductions to 2025 Predictions
Last year we predicted our critical hot topics for healthcare that we expected to advance throughout the year. Although many advancements were made in improving technologies and software in healthcare, this year we expect to see a shift toward empathy, human-centric solutions, and quality. For instance, healthcare is due for a shift toward care that addresses the root causes of illnesses rather than merely treating symptoms. Therefore, thanks to the many advancements already made in healthcare, such as the implementation of generative AI, personalized medicine, and remote care, we expect providers to have more time to build meaningful relationships with their patients and utilize these technologies to diagnose diseases early and provide preventative options to patients. This in turn will allow for proactive interventions. Furthermore, this will enable healthcare providers to focus on improving the quality of care rather than the quantity. Ultimately, in 2025, we should see a shift towards improved patient satisfaction through positive health outcomes and patient-centric solutions.
AI Predicted to Reform Healthcare Expectations
AI has seen expedited growth in the past few years; however, progress is still needed in how AI will be utilized to transform healthcare into a more predictive rather than reactive tool. Therefore, AI remains one of our predicted hot topics due to its significant potential to support healthcare organizations in providing personalized, predictive, and targeted healthcare solutions.
Furthermore, AI is expected to change how we view healthcare. For instance, automation will change the jobs that healthcare workers will have. Since AI is becoming a critical part of healthcare systems, workers must be able to work alongside AI. This means that there will be a reassessment of skills needed for jobs in healthcare to accommodate the growing changes due to AI [1]. Some examples of new skill sets will be increased digital and data literacy so healthcare workers understand how to effectively use AI. There will also be a focus on more human-centric skills such as increased communication skills and empathy since AI will clear up administrative tasks and allow providers to spend more time with patients.
Furthermore, specialized workers such as radiologists will have to change their decision-making skills to best work alongside AI. This means retaining responsibilities for the final say, but using AI as a tool to identify abnormalities. Lastly, we should see an increase in healthcare workers who are solely trained in developing, managing, and managing AI technologies. They will also work at educating and training other healthcare workers to promote the successful adoption of AI. Overall, this means that healthcare will start shifting towards being preventative and targeted, rather than reactive and aiming solely at treating symptoms over causes.
Remote Care Predicted to Provide Preventative & Targeted Care
Remote care continues to be a predicted trending topic due to its advancements in real-time health monitoring capabilities. For instance, remote care is capable of continuously monitoring patients, which will in turn allow for early interventions. Therefore, 2025 should expect to see more wearables and telehealth technologies being utilized in care plans, so that hospital admissions can be reduced, and chronic conditions can be managed better. Furthermore, this will help patients in remote and underserved areas by connecting them with specialized and high-quality providers so that they have access to more treatment plans. Additionally, we should see a significant collaboration between AI and remote care technologies so that these large amounts of data can be efficiently analyzed to identify worsening conditions before they escalate. This can also mean the use of personalized healthcare, for instance, biomarkers may be used to create targeted treatments. Overall, remote care is expected to increase access to preventative and targeted care for all populations.
Healthcare Systems Predicted to Shift towards Value-Based Care
One of our predicted hot topics for 2025 is an increased focus on providing value-based care. For instance, healthcare providers in the past often create a one-size-fits-all treatment plan that focuses more on the volume of care rather than the quality of care. However, with advancements in AI and remote care, there is now a shift toward prioritizing patient experience and satisfaction. Healthcare providers are expected to implement more integrated technologies capable of collecting and analyzing patient experiences, outcomes, and satisfaction. This data will then be used to refine current care delivery processes and focus new technologies on improving patient loyalty, trust, and satisfaction [2]. Additionally, value-based care will emphasize preventative care, chronic disease management, and personalized treatment plans catered to the unique needs of each patient. This means that AI will continue playing a crucial role in tracking patient progress, identifying risks, and providing actionable treatment plans catered to the patient’s diverse needs and requests. Furthermore, predictive analysis will be used to address health issues such as reducing hospital readmissions and opting for treatment plans that deliver optimized results. This in turn will improve the quality of care provided to patients and will reduce healthcare costs for patients in the long run. Overall, this shift is expected to enhance patient satisfaction and create a system that prioritizes quality of care over quantity so that patients have better health outcomes.
