Cloud Computing Increases Provider Engagement

Background

Increased provider engagement decreases unfavorable health effects and missed diagnoses. Furthermore, detecting common yet fatal diseases early on can significantly improve a patient’s health outcome. For instance, falling is preventable. However, 40% of injuries that lead to death are caused by falling and 30% of those injuries occur in those aged 65 years and older [1]. Furthermore, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S., yet serious life-threatening complications can be prevented if detected early [1]. Additionally, cancer and diabetes can also have a better prognosis with early detection [1]. Therefore, creating technology that encourages provider engagement is crucial to providing preventive care that leads to better overall health outcomes. Cloud computing provides an effective method of increasing provider engagement by collecting all of a patient’s health records in one location and working with algorithms and physicians to provide early detection and encourage an increase in collaboration.

Solutions

Early Diagnostics

Cloud computing increases provider engagement by providing early diagnostics. Implementing AI algorithms that complete a diagnostic evaluation with a patient’s complete health record can achieve this goal. Cloud computing compiles all of a patient’s health records in one location, making AI implementation possible. This promotes connections between the interactions of different departments, including treatments and medications. Therefore, when a patient gets testing or imaging done, the algorithm can go through all of the information to provide alerts and diagnostics to the care team [1]. Cloud computing can detect abnormal changes or the progression of diseases and increase provider engagement by alerting the care team when needed. Doctors have access to these alerts and can adjust the patient’s treatment plan accordingly. For instance, if the algorithm detects an adverse drug effect, the care team can implement an alternative treatment plan and prevent further health complications.

Increasing Collaboration

Cloud computing can also increase provider engagement by promoting collaboration. This can be done by establishing a unified system where every interaction that a patient had with a healthcare professional is recorded [2]. Cloud computing allows providers to have real-time and updated records, enabling doctors to interact with one another. Furthermore, this interaction can happen anywhere, even between different hospitals across the nation. Remote conferencing can be done so doctors can update different members of a patient’s care team [3]. This alerts the entire care team of any adverse health effects. Cloud computing promotes collaboration by allowing physicians to work together to make a unified and effective treatment plan. Increased collaboration increases provider engagement since providers can alert one another and adjust the patient’s treatment plan based on real-time data.

Conclusion

Early detection is becoming increasingly important since it can lead to better health outcomes for patients. Promoting provider engagement is an effective approach to early detection and preventive care. Cloud computing achieves this by providing early AI-based diagnostics as well as promoting collaboration between providers. Providers can adjust and update treatment plans accordingly. They can communicate with one another and receive alerts and updates on new symptoms or treatment. This prevents adverse health effects and improves the prognosis of common yet fatal diseases. The care team has access to real-time data located in a unified cloud-based system that can help adjust the patient’s treatment plan accordingly.
